The high-energy MAS1C steel face is complemented by an extended CORTECH chamber that is moved closer to the clubface to increase ball speed both on and off center. A speed bevel on the leading edge ensures that performance off the tee and on the turf is equally impressive. A wraparound toe composite completes the weighting improvements with the common goal of delivering an impressively straight, predictable ball flight. "The ST Max stands alone as a high MOI design - the Tour staff were very curious. MIZUNO needed to make sure the profile still looked good over the ball and the speed was there. Without retaining the other performance characteristics of a great fairway wood, a few extra points on the MOI scale means very little."
